The vigilance of the police at Mamelodi East led to the arrest of three suspects for possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and bribery.

Two suspects arrested on 11 March 2024 while police were conducting crime prevention duties during which the suspects were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Later the same day, another suspect reportedly came to the police station and offered a bribe of R10 000.00 for the release of the two suspects. He was immediately arrested for bribery. All three will appear in court soon.
In another separate incident, a team of SAPS Highway patrol, Ekurhuleni K9 Unit, EMPD and Springs LCRC members arrested five suspects and seized one firearm with a filled off serial number, ammunition, false number plates and housebreaking implements.
On 11 March 2024, the team operationalised information about alleged business robbers around the East Rand. The members strategically placed themselves and the suspected vehicles were spotted. An attempt was made to stop the vehicles which sped off, leading to a chase. The two vehicles were eventually corned at Boksburg CBD. A total of five suspects were arrested and further investigations will be conducted to establish linkages to other crimes.
The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni has applauded the members for their commitment in fighting crime in the province, especially corruption and exposing those who attempt to bribe the police. "The positive attitude, honesty and integrity displayed by members through upholding and enforcing the law as mandated by the Constitution of the Country is commendable.
The public is urged to be whistle blowers and take part in stopping corruption. Bribery is a criminal offence which is punishable by law.
A 33-year-old man was taken into custody in Lephalale after his mother's partner was severely assaulted in Lephalale on Saturday afternoon, 09 March 2024 at about 15:00.
Police responded to the report of murder in the early hours of, Monday 11 March 2024, at Lephalale hospital. Upon arrival, they found the 54-year-old male victim who reportedly succumbed to the injuries after being assaulted the previous two days ago.
They opened a case of murder and commenced with investigations which resulted in the apprehension of the son of the deceased's partner.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was visiting the couple at the man's home on a farm, when he found his mother with injuries after she was assaulted by her partner. The suspect raged over the incident and that resulted in a physical altercation.
The suspect was arrested at his home in Shongwane village and is expected to appear before Lephalale Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, 12 March 2024 facing a charge of murder.
The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned this type of domestic related incidents which could be avoided when issues are resolved amicably.
R34 road between Vryheid and Ulundi in Kwa-Zulu Natal is closed following a fiery head-on collision between two trucks.

The hearse burnt into ashes few seconds after they offloaded the coffin.According to mouners,they said the fire started like an explotion,within seconds the hearse burnt into ashes.The mouners where shocked and has no choice but to watch in agony when the strong flames covered the hearse.The mourner's believed it was the grace of God that saved the body of their loved one from the fire,it could been worse.The fire was meant to burnt the coffin but because of the grace,it happened moment after we offloaded our loved ones from the hearse.The video of the incident is making rounds on social media and is now the talk of the village.
