Reason's why Kelly Khumalo not arrested for killing her boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) did not approve the police’s application for a warrant of arrest for singer Kelly Khumalo.

On Wednesday, 24 January, the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria heard groundbreaking evidence that Khumalo is the mastermind in Meyiwa’s killing.

According to Brigadier Bongani Gininda the lead investigator in the case accused one and two (Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi) fingered Khumalo is the person who ordered the hit on Meyiwa.

“It was further discovered that, through cellphone analysis, her cellphone memory album has the same photo of a see-through bag containing cash notes and in the exact position or location or spot as that of accused number three.”

He further alleged that Khumalo “hated Meyiwa” and wanted to “get rid of him”.

Gininda further revealed that strides were made by police to have Khumalo arrested in November 2020, including an application for a J50 warrant of arrest that was not signed.

However, the NPA rejected the application.

“A decision was taken at that time that these are the people that must be indicted, and that is accused one to five. I cannot disclose further details in terms of my discussion with the NPA, but there were certain things that had to be looked into insofar as Ms Kelly Khumalo, ” Gininda explained.

Legal expert, Ulrich Roux, explained in an interview with Newzroom Afrika that, although there is concerning evidence against Khumalo, she is not an accused before the court.

“Just to clear up a few issues, she’s not an accused before the court – she is not one of the five accused who have been charged with the murder of Senzo Meyiwa. But if evidence does come out and is placed on record during this trial, then it implicates her, then the state will be at liberty to institute charges against her upon the finalization of this matter”.
